A special gift, from my granddaughter and her partner. His family has a place on Long Island and treasures the island. A family friend wrote this loving memoir of the island, and lives in the same house in which he was born ninety-five years ago. He retired as a commercial lobster man in his nineties.
The book is a rambling, loving tribute both to Long Island, Maine and a long life. Although not professionally written or edited, it evokes wonderful memories of a special place and time. It makes me envy those who have such a special place in their lives. A work of literature this book is not; as a treasure trove of wonderful memories, it is special.
